Renewal

10 years from the filing date and every 10 years thereafter;
There is a 6 month grace period available.

Use Provisions

Non-use of a trade mark for a period of 3 years from registration causes the right in the mark to lapse for lack of use, unless a legitimate excuse for non-use can be provided.

Substantive, with or without priority claims;

Patent of Addition;
Inventor's Certificate.

Types of Patent

15 years from the effective filing date, but this can be extended by a further 5 year period upon payment of the corresponding fee, provided that annuities have been paid up to date.  The extension fee is due in the 2 months leading up to the due date for the 16th annuity, and a statement of use must also be provided.
