Qatar - Legalisation requirements for Powers of Attorney
An official circular was issued by the Qatari Intellectual Property Department on 25 June 2024, outlining changes to the requirements for Powers of Attorney for IP matters. In summary:
• Powers of Attorney legalized abroad by a Qatari embassy will now require local attestation by the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar.
• Powers of Attorney which are not originally drafted in Arabic must be accompanied by a certified Arabic translation thereof.
• Powers of Attorney exceeding three years from their date of issuance will require a validation stamp by the Qatar Ministry of Justice.
